The DC Studios logo is set in a rainy Gotham alley
Narrative
Following the events of Batman (2022), Oz Cobb, aka The Penguin, makes a move to take over Gotham’s criminal underworld. From melting makeup to frozen sets, Colin Farrell and Cristin Milioti talk about how they shaped their characters during the making of The Penguin. Colin Farrell fought hard to make The Penguin smoke in Batman (2022), but to no avail. However, in his own series, the character is portrayed as an occasional smoker, preferring to smoke cigars.
The Penguin is simply amazing
An umbrella falls and the emblem changes to the Warner Bros. logo. Graham Norton guest stars: Lady Gaga/Demi Moore/Colin Farrell/Richard Ayoade/Jack Savoretti (2024). Wow.
I was wrong
Everyone knows Colin Farrell is a great actor, but as The Penguin, he is unrecognizable here. I wouldn’t be surprised if he gets nominated for some kind of award for his role in this. The biggest surprise was Cristin Milioti as Sofia Falcone. I wasn’t sure when I heard she was cast in this role, she’s a good actress, but I didn’t think it was for her.
This is how DC is done
She’s just as good as Farrell in this and makes you believe that Sofia Falcone is the Penguin’s true rival. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him nominated for an award for his role in this. This isn’t your typical DC or Marvel show, this is a full-on gangster series. This series is set in the underworld of a half-destroyed Gotham City and is a great follow-up to Matt Reeves’ Batman.
