An American (English) remake of the French series HPI (2021)
Narrative
It introduces Morgan, a single mother of three, and how her unique mind can help solve a crime by rearranging evidence as a police cleaner. Despite having a very high IQ, an excellent memory, and a vast knowledge of secrets, Morgan makes several basic legal mistakes that anyone who has ever watched a legal show on TV would not make. For example, in the first episode, she obtains a document from a locked safe in the suspect-victim’s law office that would never be admissible in court – it is illegally obtained evidence. It cannot be used to obtain other evidence either – a violation of the legal doctrine of “fruit of the poisonous tree”.
It’s like a secret superpower
In episode 2, you have to be reminded to wear gloves before touching evidence at a crime scene, and in episode 3, you take all the documented evidence from the police, completely breaking the chain of custody, and everything you took can no longer be accepted. court. She plays nervous really well!
The main character has just that. Her life seems to be a bit of a mess, she’s all over the place, but… she’s incredibly intelligent and notices details that other experienced people don’t. I was already a fan of Kaitlin, so it’s no surprise that I like her here too.
That does the trick
I appreciate that every episode solves a case. I don’t like when a show drags on for an entire season or more. Just tell a solid story and it’s over in less than an hour! It’s well balanced, has some funny lines, and overall is just plain enjoyable to watch.
A solid MC to root for
I’m really looking forward to the next installments. I just hope they don’t cancel it after one season like everyone else these days.
