A nuclear bomb explodes in Los Angeles, and the country is plunged into unprecedented chaos. Former Green Beret Jeff Erickson and his family flee to Homestead, an eccentric mountain fortress for survivors. As violent threats and apocalyptic conditions approach the border, the residents of Homestead wonder how long a group of people can withstand both the dangers of man-made nature and the bloodshed on their doorstep.
