The show moves the setting to the current era
Narrative
The Jackal is an elusive assassin who makes his living carrying out hits for the highest fee. He soon meets his match in a tenacious British intelligence officer who tracks him down in a thrilling cat-and-mouse chase across Europe.. The "Day of the Jackal" novel was set in 1963 and involved an assassination attempt on the then-President of France Charles de Gaulle.
Remake of The Day of the Jackal (1973)
At what point did we stop enjoying films and TV shows because our "perfect" standards have not been met. This isn't a perfect award winning cat and mouse drama, but it's by no means worth the reviews it's getting. As soon as I read one reviews stating Eddie Redmayne should try acting I knew the rest where nothing but troll reviews.
People who have nothing better to do than spread negativity
Eddie Redmayne is a breath of fresh air in every movie I've watched him in. It's a pleasure to see him take the spotlight in a TV series. Unfortunately the negative trolls are the reason so many decent shows get cancelled, because most people choose to judge a series by the review and not on their own opinion.
I was not disappointed
My advice would be to disregard all reviews and watch the show for yourself. Be the judge of your own opinion. A new season of "Silo" is one of the biggest TV and streaming premieres this month.
